General Comments

The Hotel Venezia is equivalent to a 3* hotel in the UK.

Whilst the rooms are basic and the decor (particularly in the bathrooms) is dated - the hotel is extremely clean (rooms cleaned and bed linen and towels changed every day). A good base for a holiday and all rooms have a balcony.

Don't expect great views though, the hotel is on the main pedestrianised area and Cattolica is a built up area! It is also noisy - there is no such thing as a quiet room in this hotel, and as the bars and shops are open until midnight - expect to put up with some noise if you are an early to bed type!

Rosanna the co-owner is extremely helpful and welcoming, her brother on the other hand (he runs the bar) is abrupt and not overly welcoming - but provides an entertaining talking point with other hotel guests, and to be honest if I was stuck in that bar all day and night I'd be pretty glum as well.

The food is on a par with mass catering in a 3* UK hotel. Don't expect gourmet meals or a lavish Italian feast. The food is simple, but edible. Two choices for starter and main course every day (to be chosen at breakfast). Also expect to pay for drinks at dinner - even water. breakfast is a buffet with cereal, bread, ham and cheese, coffee and fruit juices to choose from. If you want to eat like the Italians do on TV you will need to go out to a good restaurant and there are plenty of those within walking distance.

If you like the nightlife, want a good location to the beach (5 minutes walk from the hotel max, and a clean room - Hotel Venezia should do you!
