Good Points

I've not found a better site on the web for the purpose. Everyone should check once in a while.


Bad Points

A bit time consuming, too many choices - a bit like a google search....


General Comments

Probably like all too many people, I have been a bit lazy with my mortgage and still have the same one I took out 8 years ago. Gone are the days when loyalty paid. After talking to colleagues & family who have recently taken out mortgages for new homes I checked out the Charcoal Mortgage Calculator. After about 10 minutes on the site punching in all my details, I was presented with nearly 400 different deals. The key thing I've found is to check the total cost of loan - and then make use of the handy Compare facility. I quickly found that I can switch my mortgage, clear my credit cards and buy a new car for £200 a month less than I'm paying at the moment !!! Okay, it will go back up after a while, but then it will be time to check back and see where else I can move to.
Bottom line: Don't throw away your money paying unnecessary interest - check if you can get a better deal NOW.
