Good Points

Great picture, Teletext memory, Picture and Picture facility, Good Nicam sound quality (with space option on). Designer style good looks.

Bad Points

Out-of-focus sky digital text on L.H. side if contrast and sharpness settings high. Minor geometry issue where widescreen verticals are slightly bent near the edges of the screen (I've yet to see a pure flat screen TV where they aren't). No surround sound. Horizontically scrolling end credits are unreadable in DRC100Hz mode (apologies to those who may see this as a good point!)

General Comments

When our 12 year old Sony TV started showing whites with a strong pink hue and needed a new tube, it was time to replace it with a new widescreen TV. An afternoon spent comparing different sets convinced me that the KV32FQ75 picture was one of the best. I eventually bought it for a reasonable £995 (end of line) in September from John Lewis mainly because of their no quibble after-sales service and free 5-year guarantee. I'm not disappointed. It's a 'U' suffix model and the picture is superb. No colour bleed, no flicker, strong vibrant colours and excellent contrast. There is also none of the ghosting effect I've seen on some other 100Hz sets when watching fast-moving sports such as football. As for the much-hyped 100Hz vertical scrolling bands issue, I can only say that I haven't seen any, even when the room lights are dimmed. The teletext subpage memory works well as does the picture and picture function which is great for seeing when a programme on another channel is about to start without having to keep switching over. My only criticism is that there is a noticeable blurring of Sky digital text on the L.H. side when picture contrast and sharpness settings are high. After playing with the picture settings I've reduced it to a minimum without compromising the picture so it's now only a minor quibble. To be fair, when left on the default factory settings, the text blurring wasn't there but I personally found the picture too dull on the defaults. Overall, an excellent television that really produces the goods in the areas of picture quality and style.
