Keith Jarrett, The Vienna Concert - This is pure music. In Jarrett's own words, "the music speaks finally, of the flame itself." It is not programmatic; in its own way it is impressionistic without evoking Debussy. It is the work of a genius who, as an artist, is one of the precious few who legitimately can cross between classical and jazz and be extraordinarily competent in both genres.
This CD will be enjoyed by those who are partial to modern classical solo piano works as well as those who appreciate Jarrett as a musician. This is not jazz in a traditional sense. This is music that listeners should simply allow to flow into and through their spirit selves. It is ethereal and it is real.
