Good Points

Never had a chance to experience the good points.

Never worked properly from the moment I took delivery.


General Comments

I thought I was the only person to suffer at the hands of Philips with the DVD R75. It gave me nothing but grief from the moment I unpacked it. It seemed to want to go through the motions with the initial setup, but then would sporadically and inexplicably freeze up, or the picture dropped out, with a weird error message on the front display. I repeated the process of resetting the machine in accordance with the manual, but to no avail. In the end, the unit did not even respond to pressing the power on switch, or the open tray button on the unit, so I got fed up and returned it to the retailer for a full refund. It's a real shame - it has all the features I wanted for a base model DVD recorder. I thought it was only my unit that had these problems. However, after reading so many other similar reviews, I think I'll steer clear of Philips from now on...
