Good Points

Bad Points

Plastic barrel and barrel jaws

General Comments

I've had about 5 break barrel airguns over the last 20 years and this one looked like a good deal in the ads. When it arrived I was shocked to find that the barrel was made of plastic with a thin steel tube liner. Even worse, the jaws that the barrel is held by are also plastic. Why didn't they mention this in any of the ads or even on the Gamo website? Anyway, I did shoot it briefly before I returned it. It shot decently, but the problem is that plastic tends to deteriorate over time, whereas steel does not. This gun will never hold up over time. I was able to hold the stock and move the tip of the barrel back and forth about a half-inch in any direction... all I can say is, I don't want a flimsy plastic barrelled rifle!! I sent it back the next day... this gun might fool the beginner, but if you just think about it, a gun with a flimsy plastic barrel is really worthless.

Just because plastic is used in the gun's construction doesn't mean it won't last... it all depends on the type and quality of the polymer used. It is only fair to give Gamo the benefit of the doubt and see how the guns hold up - it is entirely possible that durability won't be an issue. Gamo has used this construction in medium-powered rifles (including some sold under the Daisy name) for a number of years now, and I don't believe there's been any known issue with durability.
