General Comments

I can't believe some of the bad press the Summer Palace Hotel has had. My partner and I had a fantastic time, the hotel was very clean, there was plenty of food and drinks, the staff were polite and sociable (all it took was a smile and a hello believe it or not). The beach was brilliant and yes I was one of those awful people who got up early and put my towel on the sunbed. The sunrise at that time was priceless and once mission was completed I went back to bed, none the worse, even if I did climb a few stairs. It told me in the brochure there were stairs to climb so it was no big shock when I got there! The Aegean Sea was so clear and the snorkelling really good fun, the pedaloes and canoes were free and you could use them as often as you like so long as the wind was blowing in the right direction! That's why I chose to get up early to make sure I had a sunbed right on the water's front. I truly believe that the hotel is a definite Greek 5 star hotel not a U.K. 5 star hotel, this did not bother me in the slightest, because once I saw some of the other hotels on the island and believe me I went all around the island exploring on my quad bike. The Summer Palace is definitely one of the best hotels on the island. Also, the two men standing at the entrance of the restaurant were not just smiley bouncers, they were really pleasant young men who worked very hard indeed (10 - 14 hour days, 7 days a week) the one with the cheeky smile's name is Mr Apostolis Fourlis and its worth taking time out to be polite to them. Our room was good, we spent so little time there that the only important thing was clean sheets and towels everyday, and the air con was superb. I'm not going to say anymore about my holiday but I wanted you to know that I read some really negative reviews before going on this holiday and it made me dread going. I vowed I would come home and put the record straight and I will never read another review again before going on my holiday. The thing is a holiday is what you make it, if you going there to find fault you will find it, but if you go because its great weather and a different culture and you are looking forward to meeting new people then it won't matter where you are you will still have a great time.
