Sweet, loving and devoted. Chins are very quiet and well mannered, they are not yappy in the least. All in life they require is to be near their master or mistress. Chins are beautiful and they know it,generally they like being groomed. Chins are small and portable, they are good travelers.
Chins can be very shy of new people and places. If one doesn't like a constant companion or has little time do not get a Chin!
Japanese Chins are the palace dog of Japan. In Japan there are inu (dog) and Chin. They were assigned sevants to cater to their needs and great penalties were given to those who mistreated or tried to steal a Chin. They range in size from 3 to 18 lbs, although 7-10 is average. They are covered in a flowing parti-colored coat of white with black or red. The coat is extravagant, but lower maintenence than one might think, just brush out 2-3 times per week and bathe 1-2 times per month. Their faces are oriental with large brown eyes that have a bit of white in the inner corner which gives them a look of astonishment. Their temperment is sweet and loving but they can be stubborn. They are very intelligent and terrific problem solvers. They are extemely sensitive and adjust their mood to yours.
