Rowling's developing the characters in line with their ages pretty well. Potter's becoming generally obnoxious as some teenagers do, while his friends try their best to help him through some difficult times.
Rowling needs a good editor! She's a golden girl at the mo', and I imagine her publisher's scared to offend her - sadly this means that she's getting away with not cutting out the excess.
J.K Rowling Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - A continuation of the series.
Potter acts like a brat, leading to a little sadness as "something bad" happens later on. Rowling said she was in tears as she wrote that part, but I was sadly getting bored by that stage. The thing is that overall it's a good book, but let down by the fact that Rowling is putting too much into her books as time goes on. With a decent bit of editing, I'd rate this book much higher, but it's just too long. Look at what true masters of prose manage in the same number of words and you'll see what I mean.
