Informative, educational, well-represented and packed with colour and black & white photos showing all of the body modifications involved.
Lacking any input from the father of the body modification scene...Fakir Musafar.
Shannon Larratt, ModCon: The Secret World Of Extreme Body Modification - Shannon Larratt, from the fame of the Body Modification Ezine (BME), unveils the secret world of extreme body modification in this detailed and unique study on such a controversial subject matter.
The book is beautifully presented with detailed personal accounts on some of the most extreme and disturbing body modifications to date. The 128 page book is packed with colour and black & white photos of all the modifications covered. Some of the photos are of a very graphic nature that some readers may find disturbing. There are also many photos of nudity and modified genitalia...so be warned!
This is a detailed and important account of a very misunderstood scene that has been misrepresented and wrongly given bad press in the past. Shannon has managed to maturely represent the subject and put across the views and lives of those who participate in this culture, in a very powerful and respectful way. The book covers the many different offshoots to the scene with a mature and informative approach to this sensitive subject.
The book is an important read for anyone who is interested and involved in the world of extreme body modification. I strongly recommend this book to go alongside Research's "Modern Primitives". I look forward to a world of more understanding that books such as this can offer.
