Includes three of the best B-sides the band have ever produced. "29 x The Pain" is the all-time live crowd favourite. This single is essential for any Wildhearts' fan. A true masterpiece of British rock.
You can't knock a release like this. Four outstanding tracks! There ain't a single bad point, I'm sorry!
The Wildhearts released their last single from the awesome debut full length album "Earth Vs The Wildhearts" here with the demon-racing "Suckerpunch". This release managed to cling to a very respectable postion of 38 in the UK charts back in June 1994. It hit the shops in three formats; CD, 10" Etched Vinyl and Cassette. The etched vinyl sported a detailed etching of the 'smiley bones' logo on one side, which is finding itself to be a little bit of a collectors item now.
The track listing is as follows:
1. Suckerpunch
2. Beautiful Thing You
3. Two-Way Idiot Mirror
4. 29 x The Pain
Not only was this the first time "29 x The Pain" was seen, but the other two B-sides are possibly some of the best material from the Wildhearts to date! "Two-Way Idiot Mirror" is an absolute gem of a song, with a catchy melody it ain't possible to hide from. Nothing short of genius here my friends!
Ginger and the boys were in the studio recording "29 x The Pain" on the 5th April when the news came in that young Kurt Cobain had died of a rather nasty head injury. After a little of a last minute change around with the lyrics, this original recording of the song includes the line "I'm going to miss Kurt Cobain" rather than the "Where are you hiding Richie James" which appeared on the "Best Of" compilation album.
This is truly a fantastic rock single, well worth every penny you spend on it.
Enjoy!
