General Comments

I got my Volkswagen Golf 2.3 V5 through my company car scheme. Having paid the premium through car tax I was pleased with the power of the engine. The HP isn't that high, but the torque, or simply mid range pull of the car is substantial.
It sits in traffic and potters round town well. But it best likes being opened up from 3,500rpm all the way up to the electronically limited 7,000rpm out of town.
The handling inspires confidence, if a little spongy, with high grip and predictable under-steer under power or fast corners.
The car is priced quite high when viewed against the competition, and I don't believe the build quality or specification really justifies this.
Having covered 10,000 miles, including several hard and (slightly) thrased miles, the Golf has performed well, if not exemplary, in all areas.
