Good Points

Extremely refined SUV; drives like a car, doesn't pitch and roll like a drunken sailor and it is a very quiet and comfortable driving experience. Superb build quality and even better Dealers!

Bad Points

Only 1 engine type/size - 3 litre petrol V6 in the UK and no larger petrol engine or even a Diesel engine. Poor urban fuel consumption 17 > 18 mpg UK.

General Comments

Guess what? The Lexus RX300 3.0SE Navigator 4x4 is by far the most refined and comfortable SUV that I have owned, and I have had a few - X5; Grand Cherokee; Chevy Blazer & Cherokee. It is very quiet even at high autoroute speeds and around town it's very similar to a luxury saloon. It's refinement has made multiple high speed & fully laden journeys to the South of France a pleasure rather than a chore. The build quality and standard of finish is excellent and the service from the dealership is just plain wonderful! The fuel economy around town (urban) is nothing to write home about - I get 18mpg in London (admittedly better than the mpg quoted by Lexus) but I do get 25 to 29 mpg on the autoroute! The dvd sat nav is a joy to use and the RX really does come extremely well equiped without having to break the bank on the options list! The RX300 is a refined luxury carry-all vehicle and daily driver with a little bit of off road ability though it's not so good off road, I've tried it.
The RX300 has been unerringly reliable and just keeps on surprising me with it's level of refinement, I'd happily buy another one! But can I have a bigger more powerful and more economical engine please?
