Good Points

Marvelous clarity with percussion. Good soundstaging. Handles transients well.

Bad Points

Needs good stands. Powerful amp would give greater control.

General Comments

I have these matched with a Rotel RA931 amp, Marantz CD63SE CD player, Van den Hul CS122 Hybrid speaker cable, QNECT Qed 2 interconnects and Apollo speaker stands. The clarity really is excellent, and you do get a good sense of the soundstage. It is capable of giving great oodles of bass power and separation. Guitars fly, though vocals could be more natural. At higher volumes, the amp begins to lose control and then the aluminium bass cones hit the endstops. As a complete outfit, it is better for rock and dance than classical. Overall, the Aegis Ones do rock and I recommend them highly, but match them with a more powerful amp than my Rotel, and put them on good stands. They should be available with a good discount now.

i think that the aegis 1 has a detailed sound- u can hear every instrument when u hear classical music. i have 400+ classical discs and it was build mainly maybe not for large spectrum as is in large orchestral symphonies (though it soundes good for abook shelf speaker) but made for classical music. i use it in my bedroom with nad t-751 a/v and before i used it with pioneer sx-1300.
