General Comments

Panasonic TX-32PD30 Review: My research for a new large screen TV started by looking at flat TFT screens and then Plasma screens. A trip to the local retail stores soon convinced me that the standard CRT (Cathode Ray Tubes) gives a far superior picture quality.

Next I read the specialist magazines and did some Internet research. Eventually I settled on the Panasonic TX-32PD30 which can retail for around £2,000 but I bought on the web from webelectricals.co.uk for £1,050 including delivery.

Is it worth it? If you are interested in getting a home cinema experience the answer is a definite yes. The Panasonic has a razor sharp picture which looks great from any viewing angle. There is also virtual Dolby sound. It works particularly well with the Sky movie channels and if you have a DVD recorder (mine is an Ellion ) then the recording quality is hard to tell from the original. There are enough connections that can satisfy any technical buff. It can also do all kind of wizardry, which I rarely use, like picture in picture and even has "Advanced Artificial Intelligence". LOL. Well, whatever that is it works!

The only disadvantage of this TV is the weight. At 59kg - that's about 130lbs in old money - you need some muscle to lift it. So, you MUST have two strong people to be able to lift it on to the beautifully designed and great looking stand. My delivery people would not wait for me to build the stand and then help me to lift the TV into position. Incidentally, I recommend you only lightly tighten the screws on the metal and glass stand, until you are sure everything is in the correct position.
