Nice looking, Frost free (apparently)

Bad design fault that results in the freezer door opening by it's self! It isn't frost free!

I bought the Hoover HFA29 fridge freezer 3 years ago and have followed the instructions to the letter. Including the part about not overloading the freezer and leaving space between the frozen food so the cold air is allowed to circulate. A year after purchasing the fridge freezer, I noticed that the carpet around it was very wet and the inside of the freezer was thick with ice. This ice was built up so much that the main freezer element in the freezer had been pushed towards the door of the freezer. This in turn was pushing on the freezer draws which in turn pushed the door open which then caused the ice to melt causing the wet carpet. This also ruined the food in the freezer. After defrosting the freezer I found that the freezer element had broken away from the main freezer and was protruding a good 3 inches into the freezer compartment. The pipes that connected to the freezer element looked very stretched as a result of all that built-up ice, I'm sure these pipes would of burst if left any longer. I now have to keep a watchful eye for a build up of ice inside the freezer and defrost it every 6 months. I would love to hear if anyone else has had this problem. I'm sure this is a very bad design fault!

  read your review onHFA29, we bought HNU241 frost-free freezer in Nov.2005 same problems as your`s water leaking onto floor from L.H.side front door Hoover eng. says design fault!!! auto.defrost pipe which allows water to drain into plastic tray on top of compressor freezes up causing ice to form inside freezer which pushes out like a "glacier" from door and melts when meeting room temp. A modified "heated pipe is to be fitted when available!!! Are we "guinea pigs" for their developments needless to say not at all impressed with Hoover........
