Good Points

optical Fibre sights, the trigger, accurate with or without a scope, the stock is chequered towards the sights and it is fairly lightweight.

Bad Points

Barrel length, hard to cock and hull cartridge import.

General Comments

The Gamo CF-30 is an excellent rifle to use for hunting, short distance field target shooting and plinking. The rifle is fairly lightweight so you can carry it when hunting with ease and gives you the advantage to keep the rifle steady which can produce great accuracy along with the optical fibre sights. Due to the loading system which involves a hull cartridge import this will restrict the length of the scope therefore it cannot be used for long distance field target shooting.

I think that your review is partly right, I mean for one The Gamo range is good for back garden plinking and perhaps some hunting. But the rifle isn't too light compared to some other springers and is no touch on a pnuematic. And I also disagree with you saying that it could be used for some F.T use because the kickback is quite fierce compared to some other spring rifles that could be used for F.T.

If there is anybody thinking of purchasing a Cf30 or any of the Gamo range then I believe that you are making a mistake.I think that you should dig a bit deeper and if you must get a spring rifle then get something like the BSA supersport or Lightning ( which I own in realtree version )or mabye even the great Webley Tomahak all of which can come under the class of top of the market spring rifles.

When I read this review I had the feeling that you own this model of gun because you make it out that the gamo cf30 is almost perfect when in real life it is far from it. I think that because you own the cf30 you want to make a good review about it when you have missed out all the bad points about the rifle such as the fact that the mainspring in the cf30 weakens quickly and kickback is pretty hard and I personally think that you could do a lot better than buy a cf30. Sure it's great for some 15 yard plinking but thats about it.I'm not trying to make your gun sound terrible but I just think that in the future you should tell us about the bad points as well as the good.

Oh by the way Danny303 I don't own the rifle but my friend does and i fired the rifle on many occasions and it was excellent.

Hmnmmm.... a perfect gun does not exist.... There is always a nicer-more powerful-more accurate one. However, the CF-30 is the cheapest fixed barrell available. (In Italy it costs 200 n-Euros, approx 100 squid....), and it is a good enty leve thing. If one decides that a better gun is required can switch to a FWB-Diana, whatever else. If it is just some sunday fun.... Andrew

I am seriously thinking about buying a CF-30 as my second gun (my first was a TF-88). Does anyone have 1st hand chrono data on this rifle (Gamo CF-30)? Anyone fitted a Scope on the CF-30 (what type of scope and what type of mount)? Please e-mail us your experience. Thanks

Andrew from Italy - you're dead right pal. At the end of the day, one gets what one pays for. As far as I'm concerned, my admittedly limited experience with Gamo guns is that they are excellent value for money. By the way, Where did you catch the 100 squid?!!

Bertie mate, do you sell Gamo's? Ha just kidding. I am considering either a Gamo Shadow 1000 or the CF30. Any comments there?

I have owned a cf-30 for over 12 months, and cannot fault it, I check all my guns regular on the chrono and the gamo never fails to give under 11.5 ft/lb. I would recomend any one on a tight budget to go for a gamo CF-30. the noise is no worse than any other springer I have shot. My first gun I had 18 years ago was a BSA Meteor had more twang and rattle than any thing I had heard, thats what you get with a spring gun the gamo is a lot quieter. By the way who ever wrote the review I am commenting to, what is a hull cartrige import as I was lead to beleave that hull cartrige is a company that imports guns to; uk power spec, as legal power levels from the contenent are lower than the uk. maybe you mean the pop up breach. dont look much like a stamp mark to me.

All things considered, the CF30 offers good bang for buck. Don't expect target rifle accuracy, or the advertised 950fps. Depending on the pellets used you'd be able to get 1-inch groupings at 25 yards on any day, and velocities of 870fps. The trigger is a bit stiff, but at least it breaks cleanly. Choose your ammo carefully to get the best results!

Would you recommend this over a Weihrauch hw 57?
