Good Points

This rifle has great balance & weight. It would be a satisfactory "beginners" rifle for target shooting at 10 meters, but experienced shooters & small game hunters will be very disappointed.

Bad Points

This rifle seems to lack consistent power on each pump, lacks sufficient power for any distance over 20 yards and thus is very inaccurate beyond that distance of 20 yards. When small game hunting, one is seldom fortunate enough to get within 20 yards or less of their intended target, so therefore I would not recommend it as a small game rifle. Since this is a brand new model, and I am one of the first to own one; I feel the manufacturer has numerous shortcomings to overcome, and necessary improvements to be made.

General Comments

Daisy PowerLine TargetPro 953:
I should mention that I was a sniper in Vietnam, spent 24 years in upper level law enforcement, and shot this rifle from a motionless benchrest, using a Bushnell 4-12 power scope to maximize accuracy. I should also state that I have owned the Winchester model 1000, Daisy Powerline 1000, Powerline model 880, and the Powerline 856, as well as other brands of air rifles. Of all the Daisy models, I would choose the Powerline 880 over any of their other models. Daisy would have a superb rifle if they put the mechanism of the model 880 on the stock & cocking lever of the model 953. Better yet, they should design the 953 with a velocity of 685fps minimum, with the convenience of the "one pump" feature. The model 880 has a maximum velocity of 715fps with pellets and 750fps with BB's. Both the 856 and the 880 are adequate for small game hunting, but the 560fps of the model 953 leaves it woefully useless.
