8th Jul 2004
Overall Rating
- Value for money

- Handling

- Accuracy

Light weight, portable, pointable, handles really well good looks futuristic, loads of power adjustable, can be modified easily, most of all accurate.
Bad Points
Very loud, safety is too hard to disengage, scope lines up with the tank, no multi-shot.
General Comments
After the Benjamin as 392T, AA 410E, now the Talon SS. My first impression of the Talon after a week is that it is light weight, compact but very powerful. My only gripe with this rifle is the sound. Marketed as an SS is a deception. Make no mistake this rifle is LOUD. With that aside I Mounted an 8x 50mm range finding scope and voila the rifle just zoned in the target at 10yards dime size target jagged hole.
Out of the box it's a nice piece, but the sound and accuracy is what I bought it for. So next step, research the part that can quiet it down. I got some answers on the net. My first attempt was close but no cigar. The next one was a winner at full power virtually the hammer slam is all you hear. All in all I can see giving this rifle a 10 for, accuracy, portability, design, concept, and application. One little thing it needs some modification to get it quiet down.
Testing... I don't have a chromo like everybody else. My test is accuracy at 25 yards, if it can put five shots in a quarter size target, that's good enough for now. Power testing I like real live targets and find the squirrel a tough one to beat. You need 2 things to put this critter down, one is accuracy as in shot placement and the 2nd one is power. I have not tested this part yet. I have a feeling that the talon SS would not let me down if I do my part. Lastly after the mod for the loudness part I also give this rifle a 10 for lending it self to easily solve the issue. The designers thought it out well enough to design it this way. Hats off to AIRFORCE design engineers.
On another note in comparison to the other two rifles mentioned above this is my second choice next to the AA410E the only thing the AA410E has Over the Talon SS is the nice hardwood longer range and quietness out of the box, true tw stage trigger. I can't really compare this two maybe if it were an AA410C. At this point just the multi-shot is what takes the cake. I see my AA410E taking a rest in the safe for now while I go play with the talon. All my regrets at first have been resolved next is the proving ground stay tuned.

on 25th Feb 2005I just purchased the Condor with the Talon spare tank and 12" barrel so I can convert it into a Talon SS. What modifications could you reccomend so that I can reduce the sound?
I am using it for pest control around my house and I would love to minimize the sound if not nullify it all together!Vasco
on 24th Aug 2006What mod did you apply to the gun to quiet it down? This info will prove useful as I want to make mine a bit more quiet.
