Hyatt Regency Hotel:
We travelled for a two week stay between 16 Jun 04 - 1 Jul 04 (Longwood Holidays). The flight was more than comfortable and the food was above my expectations. We were previously advised that the flight had no entertainment and took about 5 hours on an Easy Jet style 737. The massive hotel complex is magnificent, well cared for, and most defiantly 5star. The beach is man made and was a little disappointing (in that it wasn't soft and golden like you may have expected), but the reef is only 20 meters from the waters edge and at least a km long is mind shattering. I saw turtles, rays and and plethera of other aquatic life with nothing more than a mask and snorkel.
The majority of the staff were friendly and efficient, and spoke reasonable English, but don't expect 5 star service from this 5 star complex, as you may be disappointed. The breakfast was good, and the fresh pittas were brilliant, the only thing that let the hotel down was the food in the evening, which was buffet style. I can assure you however that after speaking to other guests from other hotels, the Hyatt is by far the best hotel on the stretch, and the food although not fantastic far exceeds the competitors standards and is only a minor gripe.
Drinks were expensive: Water £1.20, Soft drinks about£1.40, Beer £3.50, Spirits £5, Wine £55, Champagne £160. Lunchtime meals are tasty and good value, at about £5 with a good choice of locations to eat. There are no shops in the near area, and you're tied to paying the high prices you'd expect from a 5 star hotel boutique. It is a wonderful place to go and very good value for money. Ideal if you want to go to forget about life as the speed of life there is defiantly horizontal.
If you've booked....you'll love it... I promise
