Good Points

Very easy to play, high notes are extremely easy to reach. Harmonics and multiphonics are easy also. Basically anything above the D under the staff just flows nicely. A bit of intonation on the higher things though, and as usual on an alto saxes, the D on the fourth line is usually sharp.

Bad Points

I didn't like the way it felt in my hands, it felt cheaply built. It's not, but it just felt that way. Also, from the C# under the staff all the way to the Bb under the staff, these notes are very hard to get with the sax. Thankfully, most alto parts don't require these notes, but still.

General Comments

Yamaha YAS-23 - Overall, this sax is pretty good. I don't think its worth the list price though, because there are some Selmers and Jupiters which are better than this sax and cost less. It is lighter than most alto saxes, and so it's a good choice for youth. I just needed something more solid, so I chose a Jupiter artist series (silver plated with gold laquer keys, very beautiful).
