Good Points

Handsome-looking rifle, well made, very accurate and fun to shoot. Great for keeping in shooting shape when you can't readily shoot your smokeless powder powered firearms.

Bad Points

No need for the plastic parts! Trigger a little heavy. Awkward loading until you develop a system.

General Comments

RWS Model 54 .22 cal - First thing, I installed a Q/D sling swivel and added a Harris Bench Rest bi-pod. Tested 8 different .22 pellets on an indoor range at EXACTLY 50 yards. 5 shot groups with each pellet brand (after 200 shot break in). Top 3 are: Crosman Premier domed- 11/16"!!!, Benjamin Sheridan Diabolo- 1 3/16", Crosman Copperhead domed- 2 9/16" -- all with iron sights! Worst was Gamo Magnum pointed -- 6 9/16". However, all 8 will hit close to center of 1" patch at 30 feet. I'm two weeks away from installing an RWS mdl 300 scope. I'll see how that goes! I also tried shooting with all 4 rear sight blades and there was no shift in impact! I'm not a hunter so I won't comment on that aspect but from what I've seen so far I really like this rifle!

Follow up to my original review: I installed that RWS scope. It was useless! POI changed everytime magnification was moved, even when brought back to the same setting. You get what you pay for! Upgraded to a Bushnell 4200 Elite...much better! Have now tested over 30 pellet types and brands. #1 JSB Diabolo Exact 5.52-@ 50 feet, 5 shots through one hole, not even a ragged hole but one clean hole! Incredible!!! I'm going to test this rig and pellet combo the next time I'm at the 50 yd range and see how tight I can get it...I'll let you know.
