Good Points

The mortgage rates - if you can get a mortgage !


Bad Points

They tell you one thing but do another.
They say everything is free, it is if you get the mortgage!
Bad telephone service.
No one calls you back.
You never speak to the same person twice so have to explain everything again.


General Comments

6 months ago we applied for a mortgage through Intelligent Finance. The fellow was very helpful, explained everything and then told us we could have the mortgage - everything was credit checked and agreed. They sent us all the paperwork, we filled it out and sent it off. We then had to pay £300 for a house valuation but were told not to worry because we get this back with the first mortgage payment. We were then sent a letter by First Title Legal who do all the Equity searches and told it would be £235 to change the property to joint names first.

All the money was outlaid and several weeks passed.. no word.. rang.. no one returned call.. rang again.. no one to help, left message, no call.. 6 weeks passed. I rang for almost 40 minutes til I got someone who could help. They simply said, "oh yeah, sorry your mortgage wasn't approved last month, didn't anyone tell you?" To this date we have received no official letter to say same, and our original documents were sent back with no letter. We lost the £300 on the evaluation, and have just been told that we also lost the £235 from First Title because they only change the names if the mortgage is successful, interesting that there cancellation charge is the same as their fee!

Don't use these guys.. everyone tells you something different but nobody tells you what the true costs are involved.
