Bad Points

Not accurate, design issues!

General Comments

After only having the Webley Tempest .22 Air Pistol a few days I am feeling dissapointed. With the rear sight all the way up it still shoots low! This is due to poor design in the spring/piston powerplant. The spring is compressed towards the front sight and when released drives the piston towards the rear of the gun. This is opposite that of most guns which causes the gun to rotate forwards instead of the typical gun rotating backwards about the center of gravity. If a heavy enough pellet were used it may get better but it would still be noticable. Furthermore, the fore-end piece, which is held in place by a single roll pin located just in front of the trigger guard has developed stress fractures on both sides. This is also a design flaw. When cocking the gun a tremendous amount of force is applied to this roll pin! I see this as a serious issue which Webley should address! Check your guns for these cracks when the gun is cocked, they should be noticable on both sides!

I own the Webley Hurricane in .177cal. And I have not experienced any of the problems that the reviewer has. The Hurricane and Tempest are of the same basic design, and I find mine to be a very accurate pistol. I think the pistol in question should be returned to the manufacturer. Webley, as far as I know, backs up there products as well as any other company. I give it a 1010. I hope the problems can be resolved, good luck.

I have a Webley Tempest in .177 (a Santa Rosa model) and it's obviously a quality made air pistol. Takes getting used to the mild recoil, cocking effort and relatively heavy trigger out of the box. Combined with hold sensitivity these features do require some practice to be accurate. A custom grip and a "lube" tune makes aiming as well as the trigger let-off much better - increases accuracy a lot. No problems with stress fractures on the nose cone on mine.

I also own a webley tempest .177 i find it to be very acurate so do not have any problems with the aim however it does have a small crack on the underside in fornt of the trigger... doesnt affect the way the gun preforms so i dont mind i would give it 10/10

I love it, commenting on 'design issues' on a gun design thats probably nearly 30 years+ old (further if you include the Senior etc.) and most of us own one thats 20+ years old too. Not really an issue now I would have thought.

Mine is over a dozen years old and gets a hard life, and has none of the things you describe. I think it's an excellent pistol, and i have no problems with accuracy

I just reread the review that was posted, and I realized that what the person is talking about is a forend piece, nothing more. It is cosmetic only! No stress is put on the roll pin or forend piece at any point. It is not an integral part of the gun. In fact, the pistol is perfectly capable of performing without this piece or the roll pin holding it in place.
