Excellent coastal location, good entertainment for the kids and young at heart, clean beaches with walkway access, clean swimming pools. On-site shop not manned by Dick Turpin, prices reasonable.
Big site=long walks
Take plenty of money and cashcard(s)
Need a car
Haven Holidays Presthaven Sands - Been twice so far, first time in 2003 with a car, this enabled us to escape camp and travel a bit further afield. Second time, no car (gearbox failure a week before) felt a bit trapped.
The site itself is clean and I think its being renovated gradually.
The pools are clean and safe but aren't open enough.
Food's okay, there's Buffalo Joes in the main centre, fish and chip shop (bit pricey though), Oasis Diner -- good meals with a proper chef.
There's also a pub near the main entrance with a kiddies play area. Beer prices are sharp (2.40ish for a pint of lager).
Entertainment is excellent with the funstars team providing in the three concert rooms in the mornings and early evenings followed by cabaret acts. Actually watched the 2004 European Cup matches in the Sands Bbar (England v. Croatia & England v Portugal) which I won't forget for a long time.
Beaches are clean and accessable with wooden walkways, I did see some prams on the beach.
Be prepared to climb the dunes though, some could do with an oxygen tank at the top!!
Check your caravan when you arrive for broken showers, drawers etc. If you find anything, fill in the form in your arrival bag and show it to reception.
The funfair's good with gocarts (3 GBP for oneseater, 4GBP for 2 seater), trampolines and dodgems for a pound. There's also a ball game area.
It can get noisy at night if you're near the main road.
