Overall Rating

Good Points

Looks great. Swings great. Very forgiving. Consistent distance and direction.

Bad Points

Pricy.
A seemingly louder than normal 'plink' at contact may be unsettling to some people.
Large size head requires some getting used to.

General Comments

No doubt about it, the Wilson Deep Red 425 Driver club looks great. And it performs great too.
......
I could have bought a driver the pro's play (Titleist, Nike, TaylorMade), but let's face it, my game is not worthy. I don't want a club that I can work left or right. I don't want a club that will let me know if I miss hit it. I don't play often enough, or well enough, to allow me to (publicly) dream of playing on the senior tour if only I had the right driver.
......
My criteria for a new driver was for it to be forgiving with consistently good distance. I wanted to be able to pull the driver out of my bag when I have not picked up a club in 3 weeks and still be able to hit the ball over 220 yards down the middle of the fairway.
.......
I have a 15 handicap index and shoot in the low 80's when playing often, and in the low 90's when I'm not. My swing speed is around 100mph and I have a tendency to hook my drives.
.......
The ball comes off this driver fast and just goes and goes. I consistently hit 240 yards in the air rolling to 250-260. A few even carried 260. Control was great and the direction of the shot seemed to be entirely due to my alignment and ball position at address.
.......
Perhaps some people want more distance, but I would be very, very happy to consistently hit my drives 250 in the fairway. I find the large head on the Deep Red 425 gives me the confidence I need to swing freely without fear of mis-hits. And that is helping my distance too.
.......
Even mis-hits, where I hit the ball towards the toe and almost miss the ball entirely, still travel 230 down the middle. That, my friends, is forgiveness.

Great review! It helped me a lot comparing the deep red to results from other various makers. Thanks for the help.

I also have a Deep Red 425cc driver. Its the best investment I have ever made. Definately one of the most forgiving clubs I have ever used and it looks great. I now consistently drive the ball 250 ~ 280 yards. Best drive being 320 yards plus!!! Get one today.
