There would be a lot of good points if the recorder worked - in six months I've been able to make 3 DVDs!

Confusing instructions in manual. Operations don't work as they should. Disks wouldn't finalize, and usually would not record.

I've had nothing but trouble with the Philips DVD R75 unit. When it didn't work I called the Philips help line and got a stop-gap answer - there were about six calls made - but the recorder still wouldn't work. After about six calls, I was asked if I had the update disk - first time anyone told me about it. It arrived in three weeks, I installed it, and the unit still wouldn't work. Then I was told I'd have to send it to an authorized repair center, which I did - the unit came back in about three weeks. Total shipping costs to me, both ways, about $30. It still didn't work, and another call to customer service ended up with them telling me to send the unit back again to the service center. I'd like to just return it - obviously it is a lemon - even though the repair center said the unit was operating up to specs.
