General Comments

Whats wrong with the Samsung people? Cant they change the software? If you have experience with the earliest Samsungs in the market ,you wouldn't have any problems using this one, because all of them samsungs are exactly alike and that kind of makes you think you are not going along with technology.

Dont try messaging alot with the Samsung X600 mobile phone. You need to type a number in your text? Better type it in letters than go back into the menu one step and switch to number mode , type the number and then go back again and switch to letter mode. If you have symbols in your text you have to go back one step in the menu again, switch to symbol mode and ....weird.

The rotating camera quality is great(640X480 on a 65k screen). However the flash isnt of much use(I used it as a torch). And you can't shutdown the camera click sound. That means if you want to capture a moment without making a noise , you simply cant....unless you turn down the key sound volume to minimum. But even that doesnt shutdown the sound completely. (One good news ,unlike the A800 and the V200 , Samsung has finally added an option to shutdown the phone turn on/off music). When you rotate the camera 180 degrees , remember to press the volume up/down key on the side of this device to get a straight image and not an upside down one.

At Samsung people dont realize the importance of Bluetooth. They have lately noticed the advantages of infrared so they installed that. But if you think that would be a way to transfer images to and forth phone and PC, you are mistaken. Infrared is only used to transfer ringtones and games(yuck). In case you wanna transfer images to your PC you have to buy the cable. At the time of this review, it wasnt available.

What? You wanna attach pics to your contacts? well sorry....u cant...
Considering above I cant figure whats the camera good for.oh...I forgot, you do get zoom capabilty while looking at the image and even after you take the shot.

I use speakerphone alot. But you dont have a speakerphone here. Much to my astonishment however,if you are sending an MMS you can attach voice tags....and you can listen to your voice tags on the speakerphone:)) Seems like Samsung folks forgot to use the same loudspeaker in calls. Maybe they didnt know the phone has got this ability.lol.

Ringtones? Same old Samsung 40 polyphonic ringtones. Nothing new. They are loud enough but too embarassing in public.

Games? comes with 2 games but they are games you might expect to play on a larger screen. more games are downloadable however. But i never tried it.

Contacts? well...Samsung has its own version of UIQ. It is good. Could be better though. You can assign personal ringtones to different people or groups now.

So much for the negative side of the device. The good part is:

The reception is wonderful, even in places with low signal strength.

Sound quality is loud and clear.

Its got a great battery. I had to charge it every 2 days under maximum use. My Nokia 6600 lasted for a day at the most.

conclusion:

If you are looking for a simple but stylish phone and no flashy features , good reception and long battery life this phone would do.

Otherwise try Symbian phones.
I hope this was useful.

Hi there, I read on your review on the X600, and it's pretty much bang on!
I do agree about the hopeless SMS messaging (I wrote an earlier review). But some info that might help you is that when you are composing an SMS, you can hold down the * key for a second or so to get straight into Symbol mode, and you can can do the same with the # key to get into Number mode. Holding down the top right key will switch between ABC and T9 text modes.
Still, it's not good enough really :o(

    Hi who ever you are,
I have been using this phone for like a week and it's real user friendly even though I was using a Nokia 6610 previously but still I adapted to this phone real well it is a spot on phone and for its price. It's real cool and offers you a hell of a lot of functions for its price which is reasonable and is a good value for money and in its class it beats every other phone. P.S. it doesn't come in the same league as the Nokia 6230's and all, they are extraordinary cells but come at a very high price rather double than this one's price.

Hamzy123, when did I say it's a bad phone? As a matter of fact I have recommended it to people looking for a good realible device. The review is only about the problems I have encountered.

Its really sad that people actually comment without even reading the manual! The messaging of Samsung phones is one of the best I've seen yet, switching between predictive and a-b-c-1 modes in one keypress! And you don't even have to ever go to the number mode, if you press the key for half a second, the number appears!

Hey vivekrane, your comment is real cool and is absolutely 100 percent correct, it's a nice phone with nice functions I like it, it's very sad that people don't pay any attention to the manual and comment about the thing without even knowing what it's capable of. All in all its a nice phone with nice user friendly functions.

I don't understand why hamzy123 and Vivekrane took my review personel. Guys this is about the phone, not me, lol.
