Theme park great fun, water Carib brilliant for kids and adults, lots of sun, El Paso better than Port Adventura.
Entertainment at the hotel finished at 11-1130pm so only Bar opened till 12, then Thurs, Fri, Sat, another bar opens from 11.30pm til 2am.
Universal Studios Mediterrania, Port Adventura - Upon arriving, we were told where our room was and how to get there, how to use the Key cards. The key card also gave you unlimited access to Universal Theme Park and the Costa Carib (water park), both of which were superb. While we were there, the firework display at Universal was unreal, a must-see laser show also, the park opened til twelve and all rides were brilliant, especially at night. Salou town has loads of markets (mercats in Spanish), good value on most items and souvenirs, food was great. If you want bacon and eggs then you will have to pay 4 euros for it everyday, but, to be honest, the continental was good enough. Toast, coffee/tea, cereal, fruit, i.e, pineapple, grapefruit. Why pay the extra! Take plenty of sun cream, I needed it and I'm black!
Drinks:
Shots are expensive but you get half a glass before the mixer goes in, the beer glasses are huge so beer is good value.
We got on so well with all the staff at the resort they were sorry to see us go. We went for ten days but the second half went too quick, 7 days is long enough. It's not hard to get around. The train staion is one stop to Tarrgonda, well worth a visit, ask at guest desk and they will help you with train times, calling taxis also. There is a bus service to Salou from the hotel that is free, starts at 12, and last pick up in Salou is 17.00. Taxis to Salou are 5 euros. El Paso had the better pool, Port Adventura has a gym and a jacuzzi, tennis courts, but you have to pay to use it.
I will say that there were Spanish kids also staying, 3 nights, so there was some noise at night. Make sure you complain, we did, and got a bowl of fruit as an apology, but the kids were threatened to be thrown out regardless of what time it was! It did the trick.....3.30am being noisy is not anyone's cup of tea!
Plenty of sun loungers around the pool, which shuts at 6pm. Will plan to go back, but will travel a bit more and not just do the theme park! Well worth a visit.....go on, what are you waiting for!!!???
