General Comments

I bought this Gamo 890 Hunter Air Rifle two years ago from a rifle shop in Dubai. I paid only 650DHS including scope. nice price isn't it?(US$176). When I tried a first few shot, I was disapointed, no accuracy! When I checked the gun I found minute barrel movement due to the excesive breach Washer. After I adjusted it I could shoot 1/2 inch group at 25yards. It is a nice gun for long time hunting you will love its weight. I used to go with my Diana air king(RWS54) as my favourite hunting rifle. It is a very smooth & powerful accurate rifle but it is heavy to carry on long hunting sessions. I can't compare the gamo with my diana's professionalism(I paid 1400DHS ie:380US$.) but for that price this gun is wonderfull.! only Gamo can offer it.
my suggession to improve this gun's quality given below
1)make smoother trigger mechanism.
2)make auto triger lock.
3)reduce recoil.
4)make metal triger guard.

I can not speak about Gamo 890s distributed outside of America BUT I can say that those that are distributed inside the USA have all metal Trigger guards and trigger assemblies. AND the triggers are adjustable.

Deira Dubai, opp. sabka bus station near abra name of the shop is 'Al Sayad' and opp: city centre phone(+9714 2959997) you will find some diffence in price due to the dollar drop.

yes in the UAE I find only plastic triger guard, it breaks easily. I changed twice and now I made one with brass. and I believe auto lock makes rifles safer.

With those improvements they couldn't keep the price down that low. And like you said compared to a RWS 54 it doesn't compare. But as a hunter it is more applicable and can get the job done. You do have the best of both worlds, a fine bench rifle and a good hunter/plinker. I'm glad things are working out.

Two years after i bought the gama-890 i found some accuracy losing. i found Jaw washer(which barrel holds) has to be replaced, it was plastic!. After replacing its shows good accuracy as new. I don't understand how such a good rifle is losing its respect as the manufacturer doesn't want add some dollars to improve its quality for long term.

To the snobs of the air rifle world, Gamo never had any respec, only the people that shoot them give them credit most time. I have a Beeman and a RWS but the Gamo has a place in my needs for air rifles. The plastic him between the rifle as you satted "Jaws" is an attempt to keep weight and price down, notice that the RWS has a plastic trigger and a guard?? Its still a great rifle, isn't it. I'm glad you fxed it, its a good rifle overall.

you are right. even RWS uses some plastic, they never compromised with quality. I love its smooth & safe actions, but small changes in gamo would make it a much better rifle. unfortunately even after years they are still same, but when i consider its power and good accuracy, it is a worthy rifle for that some dirhams.
