Good Points

Nice 'weight/feel' to the rifle, great design and very good accuracy. Very good muzzle velocity specs for a Canadian air gun (475 fps). Excellent value for the price.

Bad Points

Focusing/zeroing the supplied scope - no distinctive 'clicks' for zeroing, difficult to focus (turning the locking ring after focusing also turned the focusing eyepiece!), and the plastic stock/forestock feels okay but looks cheap. The plastic caps to protect the scope lenses should be black, not white (for a more professional look).

General Comments

For my first airgun I'm very pleased with the Beeman FH500 overall. There was absolutely no comparison possible between the FH500 and my brother's older (20+ years) spring-piston rifle (although the refinished wooden stock/forestock on his looked very smart!). The zeroing/focusing of the scope took a surprisingly long time, and without the 'detent clicks' associated with higher-quality scopes I ended up turning the adjustment screws in quarter-turn increments. However, after zeroing, in an impromtu plinking match I was able to put five successive shots within the inner ring on a target from approcximately 25 feet (we were in his backyard).

It bears noting from that distance my pellets embedded into or passed through the particle-board backstop, and that pointed pellets are undoubtedly the most accurate for this rifle (I tried out domed, pointed and a plastic 'dum dum' type of shot).

The rifle has a very nice 'heft' to it, and the added features of the Monte Carlo stock, muzzle brake and automatic safety make it all the more appealing.

Although I have limited experience with air guns (my weapons experience comes from military service) I would say this is the perfect rifle for those just starting out in the hobby.

I also have the Beeman FH500 air rifle, but I can't get it to hold a zero on a scope. Please can you help me out? I'm desperate.
