General Comments
Having leased the Nissan Terrano II Touring 2.7 TDI for 3 years it's now due to go back (hurrah!). Now on my 3rd speedo..after 15000 miles it tends to stick on 70 mph, which is a bit disconcerting when travelling at 30mph. During 3 months of last years very hot summer my heater refused to blow anything but hot...spares eventually arrived. Oil seals failed twice on the rear soaking the brake pads. Alarm failed...another long wait for spares. Very agricultural...on a long journey I found two hours driving a maximum before having to stop for a 'stretch'. After 3 years still not confident about taking sharp bends anything but cautiously.

Good, it's not a sports car..bends deserve caution in any vehicle and especially in a 4WD. Also good that you stop every 2 hours for a refresher when driving...recommended by most experts as the ideal interval for maximun attention to driving. The oil seals probably failed through the vent on the rear axle being plugged up/rusted closed. At high speed (70MPH) the air in the diff expands, can't get out the blocked vent, and blows past the seals. MAINTENANCE ISSUE.Heater could have been disabled by any half competent garage or even by someone half handy by blocking the connections to/from the engine. no hot water circulating=no heat. Simple.
