General Comments
One of the latest military surplus rifles I have been shooting is the Schmidt-Rubin Karabiner 31 (K31) imported by Century Arms. This review will not go into the history of the rifle. It is only designed as a buyers guide.
The K31 is a straight pull action, meaning the bolt pulls straight back and not lifted up to unlock first like most bolt action rifles. Caliber is 7.5x55 Swiss. It is fed from a 6 round detachable magazine. The sights are adjustable for windage by moving the front sight while elevation is done by replacing the front blade. The rear sight is graduated from 100 to 1500 meters. My rifle was dead on right out of the box. Stocks are either walnut or beech with walnut being the most desired. Most of the stocks are badly dinged or water stained but the mechanics of these rifles are excellent as well as the bores.
Ammo for the rifle is expensive both surplus or commercial made. However the 7.5 Swiss is easy to reload for as .308 diameter bullets are what are used for it. Brass can be bought from Graff and Son for under $40 per 100 pieces.
There are at least three styles of scope mounts for the rifle. I have the one that is mounted on the rear sight and uses a handgun scope. My rifle will produce 3 shot groups under one inch and this is the norm not the exception.
I highly recommend the shooter collector to add one of these rifles to their collection. Prices average from $90-$150 depending on condition.
A simple search for Schmidt-Rubin Karabiner 31 (K31) on Google will give the buyer plenty of sites to get more info on this rifle.

Very concise and informative review. I found this to be very helpfull as I have been thinking about getting a K-31 but wasn't sure about ammunition and reloading issues.
