Good Points

- Terrific looks by Pinninfarina still turn heads 15 yrs after launching.
- 24V QV engine very capable of good sounds and car speeds.
- good load of gadgets with fairly good quality compared to those Alfas in the early 80's and back.
- excellent factory applied rust prevention.
- good Recaro front chairs
- steering feel is good, especially on tight corners
- fuel economy is good when driven sensibly (mines gets a good short blast on every trip, and returns 490 km per 58-60 litre refill each time at the petrol station 98 RON ULD)
- good ergonomics oevrall
- the dark red (factory code "Alfa Rosso 130") is a very attractive hue, esp when the OE paint is a basecoat/clear coat system.
- OE wheels from Speedline very attrative indeed but prone to paint lift after vigorous use on rough roads in several years. Repair might be prohibitively dear
-

Bad Points

- bad instrument cluster (centre panel and dashboard cannot store cell phones, drinks, small pouches etc; and the small bins at each door is negligibly small and difficult to use
- front tire wear very horrifying to ##my## pocket
- suspension bush wear a problem, installing even the softest poly bushes resolves this fast wear-out but give away the subtle ride original ones inspire
- engine mechanicals on the 24V versions even more susceptible to failure then the previous 12V ones (eneven tooth load on the camshaft sprockets might be the origin of the problem and there's not way to guarantee expensiive and heartbreaking failure even after a drive belt rebuild for the timing mechanism and the accesory serpentine belt system)

General Comments

I have owned this 1995 Alfa Romeo 164 3.0 QV (Cloverleaf/S) for just 3 months or so, but had heard of other 164 QV owners' enthusiastic comments on their "babies".

Having owned several Alfa Romeos including 2 GTV6 2.5s, a 75 2.0 & a 2.5 V6 auto, a Sud Sprint 1.7, and other lesser versions of 164s (3.0 manual, 3.0 12V auto, and 24V auto), I have to come to admit that this 164 24V QV is by far the best old-Alfa-spirited breed of all Alfa models produced in the 80s' thru now. Not even the latest GTV 3.0 24V or the 166 so called "GTA" can compare facing this 164. The sound and the fell of the car are soo good!!

At a mere HK$25,000 (US$3,200), this car is a steal!
