Good Points

Picture quality is life like. Sound quality is good considering internal speakers. Great screen size for home cinema.


Bad Points

Heavy and awkward to move. Also faint vertical bands over whole screen when watching a light background. Also now in workshop after tube going, and mains transformer, and also something called a coptex had to be fitted.


General Comments

I have never seen a better tv for watching dvds and sky digital than this Philips widescreen 32pw9576. Clear, constant images with excellent geometry. Also looks the part as well and fits right in there with the best home cinema set up.

    A very fair assessment - my model displays 4 distinct vertical black lines to the left of the screen when showing dark images eg night time or space scenes. This is very distracting as it tends to draw the eye. Phillips say this is a 'characteristic' of the TV, yet they have eliminated it from TV's costing a third of the price. Also I have occasionally noticed the speakers vibrating under the strain of some action film DVD's eg 'Terminator', even with the volume not set particularly high. All in all a bit of a beta model as far as i'm concerned not up to Philips usual high standard.

    We're on year 3 of our second one -the first one was sent back to Courts as it kept switching itself on!!, had sound problems, and was generally not of merchantable quality (not for the 1600 quid we paid for it). The main annoyance with the TV is you can't put it on a screen format and have it stay there permanently until /you/ change it, ie needs to be on wide screen to display full screen information, but TV proggy will screw it up when adverts come on, or will reset when you change channels/switch off, so it's lift the flip (broken and glued twice now) on the remote and hit the screen size button 4 or 5 times.
    I will look twice before buying Philips again.
