General Comments

THE VENOM MAMBA 2 SHOT £329.95
THE WEBLEY RAIDER 2 SHOT £264.95

If you phone webley and ask how is the gun called a venom custom shop gun. They say it was developed by the venom custom shop.

FACT:
The gun is a standard raider with a silencer and gold plaited trim. The gun is not built in the custom shop. The gun mostley developed before the venom team joined webley.A Mr Dunn & Mr Evans was two of the developers

The one in a 1000 certificate
This was signed by no one from the custom shop. Some was signed by a lady in the office she has now left the company. Guns have been returned because they dont come up to the custom shop standards....poor trigers etc.etc

The venom viper was developed by the custom shop based on the raider but with a different barrel, exhaust valve and work to the triger

You can buy a viper built in the factory or pay more and have one built in the custom shop.

Gun prices taken from J.S.Ramsbottom airgun world. May 2004

How do you know this is Fact?

It is now well known in the gun trade and the air gun magazines that the venom mamba is not what it is made out to be. As said before the mamba is a standard raider not that I am saying the raider is a bad gun.
Don’t you think it is odd that the custom shop would make a limited edition gun with a beech stock?
All I can say is that if you knew the source of my information you would not doubt it.

a little harsh this review, especially as most people get to handle the gun before they purchase it. If this gun is so bad then why buy it to begin with?

As I said before, I am not saying the Mamba or Raider is a bad gun. What I am saying is that the Mamba does not come up to custom shop standards. So if you have a Mamba, you have a Webley Mamba and not a Webley Venom Mamba. When it was found out the word was getting well known webley stopped production with well under 400 mambas being made. So what can they do with the parts left? how about fitting a set of sling swivels and a 3.9x40 scope and re-name it the Webley Verminator and if you cant see that you probably think the world is flat. Have you seen the work the venom team done to the Weihrauch hw100. or if you can afford £700/£800 take a look at the cobra, a true custom shop gun.

Having just bought the gun in question, I find it a pleasure to use, extremly accurate and powerful.

Very interesting to hear that it is being miss sold as a custom rifle.

I will be looking further into this.

But to anyone that is thinking of buying the Mamba, go for it, it's a good price and a great gun. One point, make sure you lube up the bolt slide.

    Hello NEEDY.
As the owner of a Venom Mamba No 407, I was wondering where you get all the accurate information from, regards numbers made? Surely if the run of 1000 was cut short on Webleys FIRST Ltd edition PCP. Then surely the value of this gun has probably increased.

    Thanks grantthekiwi.

The fact that you give a Venom gun 0 means you must know nothing about airguns.

Sorry, I take it back. If it wasn't a true venom job then it may well have been as bad as you said. Also, I got that SMK 4 years ago. It was only recently I found this website.
