General Comments

The Eriva Apartments in Acharavi are located very close to the beach and about a 5 minute walk up the lane to the Centre of Acharavi. The apartments are very clean, and depending on the type of apartment you have booked, some rooms are spacious. The rooms are typically basic, it is very rare you get a double bed (usually a double room is two single beds) you are provided with a small hob / elecric oven and basic cooking utensils and kettle etc. The bathrooms consist of toilet / sink and walk-in shower, and as you probably already know, you are lucky if your shower has a shower curtain (as the greeks believe they are unhygienic and a breeding ground for germs. You are also lucky if you get a hook for the shower, usually you have to balance the shower head in one hand and the soap in the other, otherwise have a partner to hold it while you wash!! The cleaners usually come around approx 2-3 times a week, to mop and empty bins, but the linen and towels are only changed once a week, so use them sparingly!

The pool is quite a fair size and part is sectioned off for children, Sun loungers are aplenty around the pool. There is a snack bar run by the owners too which is quite reasonably priced (usually serving english snacks - pizza, chips and toasties etc and alcoholic / non-alcoholic drinks.

A short walk up the driveway will bring you to the beach, the beach is quite stony in places. All along the beachfront are restaurants and tavernas. If you come out of the apartments and walk for 20 mins to half an hour, you will hit the neighbouring town of Roda, which is well worth a visit. You can also get a bus which runs on gmt time (greek maybe time - maybe they will turn up or maybe they won't!) A more reliable method of transport is taxi, for €5 you can get to Roda and for €10 you can get to Sidari, which is approx 15 mins away.

The resort of Acharavi is pretty quiet compared to Sidari, although it has a choice of restaurants, tavernas and discos, it is suitable for couples and families. The Greeks tend to stay in this resort over the winter, and is one of the only resorts to stay open out-of-season. Eriva is close to all amenities - shops, bars, banks etc. There is a water park just outside of Acharavi (Aqua Polis) which is great for the kids and a lot cheaper than Aqua Land.

There is a fair bit of sightseeing to do in Corfu, a great way to get around is by car. My advice is not to book through the rep as they charge extortionate prices. Shop around, but make sure you are covered on insurance. Watch for the roads too, they are not the best, and are very small and windy as you will see on your way from the airport into the resort. I would steer clear of mopeds though, apart from being a hazard on such bad roads, you are usually not covered if you have an accident on your travel insurance. You can also book trips on the high street in the travel shops for a small amount of money, e.g. boat bbq's trip to Albania and island tours, again, avoid the reps prices if you can! I hope this gives you a good insight into the resort and appartments. Hope you have a great holiday!
