General Comments

I got this Samsung A800 mobile phone way back in December 2002 at the time it was probably the smallest, slickest phone on the market but now it just doesn't make the grade.
The A800 still looks a nice phone apart from the disproportionate aerial and the fact that after a few months it starts to look battered (even if kept in a leather case). A nice feature is the crescent shaped service light that you can have flashing any colour you want.
When you open the phone you are greeted with a very stylish well lit key pad which is surprisingly easy to use despite it's small size.
You can navigate the phonebook and menus effortlessly with the very nice "D" pad and the organiser is first rate leading me to beleive this is more of a business type than a fun phone.
The ringtones are mainly classical tunes and the ringer is quiet even on the loudest setting as is the speaker (probably because they're from the same source). The "vibro-alert" vibrates for the first 4 rings with no sound then plays the ringtone with no vibrate (I missed many calls due to this).
SMS is slow, if using Abc mode you have to wait an eternity if you want to use the same key twice in succession (e.g.. the "a" and "b" in about) and the T9 mode gives you some strange words which I think must originate from some alien language.
There are 3 games which if I said they were boring it would be an understatement.
Battery life is almost as bad as it's colour counterpart (T100) with an average of 30 min talk time per day it lasts about 1 to 2 days.
As for reliability it turns off in cold weather, crashes occasionally and the backlight display now comes on only when it feels like it (this started 3 days after the warranty ran out).
I have to finish by telling you about the annoying jingle when you turn the phone on or off, it's HIDEOUS and you can't change or stop it.
There are much better phones out there now for the same price and some really nice ones for a little more so I say look for something other than the A800.
