My friend who uses these Maxtor DiamondMax 80Gb Hard Drives for himself and his customers was always speaking highly of Maxtor, he said he'd never had a failure. After some internet research I found that some had bought drives that were noisy and others that had failed, thinking that fingers crossed i'd see for myself I got mine about 2 months ago, so far i'm very pleased with it. First of all it's very quiet, only barely making its presence known when writing large files etc, also it runs quite cool, my Hitachi 60gb 7200 rpm indicated about 43-55c although it never complained it made me nervous, this one indicates 34-44c depending on activity. It also seems quite a bit faster some say by about 20 per cent, maybe the advantage of having 133 as opposed to 100 bus speed.
For £45 it must be a bargain.
