Bad Points

No service! Terrible customer service. Will NOT contact you, you have to keep ringing back, which means no continuity as it's a different operator every time - no one takes ownership of a problem and they will NOT let you speak to anyone in authority. No way, no how.


General Comments

Two weeks after "connection" to Tiscali and still no service. Call centre in India (I believe) - the staff are (very, very polite and nice people it has to be said) clearly working to a script and if you have a problem which does not fit the script then things get very confused - not least because English is not their first language, which makes explaining technical problems or anything "off script" very difficult. Use a colloquialism or have a regional accent and you've got no chance. 10-15 minutes to get through (on the best occasions - but can often be longer) and so far up to 10 calls, all for no less than 20 minutes each (some up to 30 minutes), and all resulting in me being told to "wait another 2 days". At my wit's end and wish I'd never signed up to it. Tiscali have got very bullish when I've asked to terminate the contract due to them not having supplied me with the service (so I can go to another supplier who will actually give me broadband) - can you believe that they still think I should pay each month even though I do not have a broadband service connected yet? Be very, very, cautious before signing up.

    I used to be with Tiscali! They will try to get you to pay for the months that you haven't even had. But you should just tell them that you absolutely refuse to pay and that they can take you to court for it. This is what I told them, they said that they would seek that avenue if need be. I told them that there isn't a judge in the country that will prosecute me for not paying for something that I am not even getting and that if it did go to court then at least they (Tiscali) would have to give answers to the many questions that the operators' scripts could not answer. I also told them that it would be great to hear them tell a judge the reasons for their slack service and fob-offs. Pay them nothing! Tell them that you are no longer bound by any contract because they have not upheld their end of the so-called contract. Keep doing speed checks on your connection and save your findings on a disk. They won't have a leg to stand on. This is what I did. I never went to court... I havn't heard from Tiscali about the supposed money I still owe them because they are breaking the law themselves.
