Revd Malcolm Drummond's review of Bose Wave® Music System

Bose Wave® Music System

“This Bose Wave Radio/CD micro system is a...”

Good Points
The machine is small and all its functions work

Bad Points
It is over-priced and over hyped

General Comments
This Bose Wave Radio/CD micro system is a triumph--sadly not in acoustic performance, but in the success of its marketing.

The machine is cheap and plastic in construction and the amplification is inadequate. The sound quality does not match what is said in the advertisements. The CD player is a lower end of the market type which doesn't even let you move along to various points in a long track. The radio performs satisfactorily.

I believe that most people having bought one have to praise it or admit to having wasted £400 or so. I have had one for 4 months now and wish that I had bought Kloss instead---not quite as compact in some ways, but otherwise out-performing the Bose in every other respect.

Even their mono dual waveband little Tivoli radio ( which I also have) makes the sound from the Bose seem cheap and nasty

The Wave 2 radio/cd is much improved in build quality, and has a more 'believable' sound.
