Very quick off the line. Style. Sound System. Overall interior appointments.
Minor things - Keys from key chain hit my right knee when driving. Avg 13 to 14 miles per gallon while having to use premium fuel can be expensive with rising fuel costs. Tight space near pedals. Tight space period (who cares, wife owns the van). Wheels dirty quickly with brake dust. Loose front seats that technicians swear is just due to all the mechanics of the adjustable seat (I only notice this when getting in and out of the car).
1999 Jaguar XJR LS (I wanted a 2001 but this is the only used one I could find in my area as they are a hard car to come by) - I read many reviews like the one I am typing to help me decide on this car. I read, for the most part, nothing but good things. I am a tough critic when it comes to cars. I have owned many types ranging from BMW to Infinti and I can honestly say that this car exceeds them all. The positives far outway the misc. negatives.
If you want to feel good on a Saturday night as you are heading out to meet some friends for a nice dinner just as the sun is setting in a freshly washed XJR with some good tunes playing via the cd player and you enter the highway quietly and quickly hitting 100mph with style and having plenty more under the hood then this is your car.
After owning it for a little less than a year I still find myself out in the garage sipping my first cocktail of the weekend evening just looking at this georgous cat. It is a pleasure. I get many compliments from those who own the BMW's and Mercedes. It also feels good to know, as BMW/Mercedes owners know, that you can take them off the line while giving them a slight head start. I am old but still a kid at heart when it comes to whipping most 4 door luxury/sport cars in quick little stop light races (especially enjoy those who come up on the red light and switch to the empty lane next to me hoping and needing to get back over into my lane to make the turn up ahead). NEGATIVE - Get back behind me. I have also run this feline up to 120 mph before backing off and it was like riding on glass with still more to spare. This along with the many other reasons is why I bought this car. Believe me when I say this sucker will out run a Porsche 911 stock. If it had wings it would fly.
I bought a used one to make sure this was indeed the car everyone said it was. I didn't want to make a $75,000 mistake and take a bath on a new one if I didn't like it. I plan on trading this one in within the next year for a new 2004(lighter body with 390hp). Thats how happy, convinced and pleased I am with Jaguar. Anyone considering this car will most likely feel the same way.
