Good Points

Great value, accurate, light, nice wood.

Bad Points

Trigger creep and supposed short spring life. Not a problem since Jim Maccari produces replacement springs.

General Comments

RWS 94 .22cal:
Hey Guys,

Took my first shots with an airgun since my last WLOPA, CT match today!

Any of you own one of these Spanish babies? I picked one up recently for my future father in law because he surprised me and paid for my ticket out to the Mayo Clinic in Arizona a few weeks ago and he's been after an airgun. Worked out perfect on the deal. If anyone is after one Natchez has them on sale this month April 2004 for around $165 and the Bushnell Trophy 4-12x for $79. I had some Beeman two piece mounts laying around so I through them on as well.

Nice shooting rifle, easy to cock and its stacking Crosman Premiers at 10 yards. Also the Bushnell is the first scope I've used other than a high end Nightforce or Leupold that has enough adjustment at the eyepiece for my eye! Will take it outside to see what it does at some distance but so far so good. Some dieseling and the trigger is a little creepy but heck, I'd be willing to live with it for the price. Be sure to clean that bore when you get a new one though, some real nasty stuff came out of mine.

Main reason for getting one, good reviews on this and other sites and JM makes springs for it!

UPS delivered it opened on one end with the usual, at least one small pressure ding but who know's where that came from and he'll never see it. Nice looking walnut stained beech or whatever they use for wood. Decent bluing and cocking is very easy and starting to smooth out the more I use it. Balances well offhand and holds nice in the FT position. Safety can also be re-engaged, a nice touch especially in a hunting rifle.

Here's what it chrony'ed at today indoors with CP's .22 cal pellets and this is only with about 25 pellets through it and a decent cleaning using Mac1's pull through cleaning kit.

Lo 728.2
Hi 756.2
Av 744.3

That one low number killed the results but that might have been from the angle I fired the rifle at over the sensors, the rest of the shots were between 740-756 fps and the muzzle was about a foot or so away from the first sensor.

I wasn't being as careful in testing as I normally would since this is primarily a plinker/hunter for someone that hasn't shot in years, let alone has never fired a spring air rifle. I did it to get an idea of where the spring is at new so I can keep an eye on it. Once he gets good with it I'll give if the full boat treatment.

Does anyone know of a link to a website that might have an exploded view of the parts or any tips on tuning, etc? Directions were pretty skinny. Also what pellet does your like best? I only have CP's and JSB'S.

Neat rifle, might have to try it on the silhouette range. Maybe we'll get him hooked.

Thanks,

Billy Lo

Exploded diagram and parts list is available from www.chambersgunmakers.co.uk. Look under gun parts, Cometa, 400 Fenix. This is the same item as the RWS 94.
