Good Points

Nice architecture. The resort is nicely decorated and pleasing to the eye. The Thai village is quaint and has beautiful lighting.
+/- Location -it is far north on Chaweng beach, far from the "action" which may be a plus or minus depending on what you are looking for.
+ Nice breakfast, although open air and there are mosquitoes everywhere
+ Prego Italian restaurant - very good food.
+ Sivara spa on premises quite nice, although noisy open air. (Construction nearby.)

Bad Points

They have no tennis court!! No health club or gym, and no mountain bikes, as they advertise in all their promotional materials!! When asked about their tennis court, it was knocked down more than a year ago to build a restaurant - they still have not updated any of their written promotional materials. They do have a squash court, but I couldn't use it because they use it for storage! At least they offered to book a court at Central Samui 20 minutes away. However, they charged 10 baht per call to the tennis court and we had to pay all fees and transfer costs although they deceived us!
- Service slow, unfriendly, and either unresponsive, or there is no one to help you at all!
- Not enough places to sit/lie down at the pool/beach. If you arrive after 10 am, no place to sit, no towels available, and no one comes to replace them.
- Transport is a rip off!! - I had to cram into a crowed mini bus for 4 times the price I could pay for a taxi. Plus they were late!

General Comments

I booked the Amari Palm Reef Resort through a prepaid site so it was not possible to just checkout and leave - we should not get a refund. This hotel was a huge disappointment. It is not a bad place - but the offers they advertise are not there! The same with the facilities and for the price (where did they get those stars???) the service was very poor.

This hotel does NOT provide what they advertised as having in their resort - notably, no tennis courts, no health club, no mountain bikes, and no swimming possible on the beach. It is rocky and too shallow. No free newspaper as advertised. No porters came to help with luggage. Transportation was expensive and consisted of cramming 12 people into a tiny old van.
