  • Ease of Set Up

Good Points

None that I can see.

Bad Points

One-year warranty doesn't get it. The products are prone to failure and it's the system builders that that end up having to satisfy the customer when their mainboards fail.

General Comments

Elite Group ECS K7S5A - I own a small computer sales/service store. I recently purchased the inventory of another computer store that was going out of business.

Among the items I bought were nine ECS mainboards.
Of those nine boards, eight of them failed. The boards were a mix of K7S5A, K7S5A Pro, and K7VTA3's. The biggest problem was the AGP video cards wouldn't function. Obviously, based on some of the other reviews contained on this site, I wasn't the only person experiencing that problem with ECS boards.

I contacted ECS who promptly passed the buck back to the distributors. The distributors in turn told me that ECS has a particularily tough warranty policy and that even though the boards were new out of the box, they doubted seriously if ECS would honor their warranty because the boards were older models.

I then again contacted ECS and found that the distributors were telling me the truth. ECS basically told me that I was tough out of luck and that I would have to eat those boards.

ECS claims that their boards are value priced products. To me, price is what you pay for a product, while value is what you receive. The price I paid for those boards was $350.00, the value of the ECS boards I purchased is zip.

Will I ever purchase or recommend an ECS board in the future? Not a chance in the world. I'm sticking to Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte.
