General Comments
Ordered phone from The Mobile Republic via Letsbuyit.com regarding offer which gave you £30 back in the first 6 months and £15 back in last 6 months of twelve month contract. Seemed to good to be true but I thought what the heck!
Was then informed about this site. Read some of the reviews on here and was put off by Mobile Republic's overall poor rating. Especially after reading reviews on similar offers where they don't pay up their £30. I cancelled next day. This was when the fun began.
2 days after I cancelled (27/02/04), Mobile Republic still did a credit check on my credit card account - Why? Even thought they did not take the money, my credit available dropped by this amount. This took about 5 working days to be removed.
**I thought that this was the end of the matter**
I then got a bill from Singlepoint informing me that my contract had started on March 1st 2004. This arrived on 5th March. I contacted Mobile Republic who had assured me that I had been 14 day'd. (You know that 14 day cooling off period). (I seem to recall joking to my buddy at Mobile Republic about the fact that the next thing would be that the phone would arrive). I also had a direct debit set up to pay Singlepoint. I cancelled this at my bank.
**Again I thought that this was the end of the matter**
I then received a Royal Mail delivery note when I arrived home on or around the 10th March stating that a parcel had arrived but they could not deliver it and it was back at the depot.
I rang my buddy at Mobile Republic and he confirmed that he had somthing on their system about trying to deliver a phone to my address. My buddy asked if I could collect it and post it back to them. Obviously I told him where he could stick his suggestion and said that there is no way that I was even wasting petrol on getting there. It was their problem. He called back about 2 hours later saying that he had personally taken care of it and that I did not need to worry.
** Once again I thought that this would be the end of the matter**
Singlepoint sent me another bill demanding payment of five pounds something or other. I hit the roof. After destressing myself to the nice lady at Singlepoint, they quashed the payment.
**That was it, I thought this was surely the end of the matter...**
I have now received a further bill from Singlepoint stating that I was now in credit! I've not yet pursued this one.
In Summary:
* It appears that there is no communication with Mobile Republic and any partnerships (i.e. Letsbuyit.com) that they have
* It took them over two weeks to try and deliver an old rubbish phone.
* Whoever cancelled my order made a pig's bottom of it.
