Very Funny.
Bit gory for some. Quite Short.
Shaun of the dead is a really good film. It's very funny through out, although gets a bit gory and perhaps upsetting for some as everyone begins to die as the zombies take over.
The plot is simple Shaun (Simon Pegg) lives with a couple of flat mates Ed (Mike from Spaced) & That tall bloke from Hardware. His girlfriend dumps him after getting bored of nights out to the same pub. Then the world gets taken over by zombies. The reason behind this is never truly explained. Shaun and Ed then have to go and rescue his mum, from her about to be zombie husband (Bill Nighy). Then they attempt to save Shaun's Ex and her 2 flat mates (Dawn from the Office and Dillion Morgan), and take them to the 'safety' of the local pub.
The main joke is that Shaun and Ed don't really take the zombies very seriously and don't seem too worried by their predicament. About 2/3rds in the plot does get a bit serious and the comedy is put to on side for a little while and it is gorey enough to deserve it's 15 certificate. There is also very clever use of the same actors you see pre and post becoming zombies.
If you enjoy the TV show Spaced or like a little bit of zombies this is for you. I'm not a big zombie fan and haven't seen dawn of the dead but enjoyed this immensely.
Also watch out for cameos from Matt Lucas, Martin Freeman and the like.
