Good Points

300 Horsepower V8 is a screamer, 0-60 times have been documented as low as 5.7 seconds with quarter mile times of 14.2 at almost 100 mph. The true performance of this car really starts to show at 100+ mph. The breaks rival 911's and Corvette's.

Lexus quality, service, and butter smooth interior.

Bad Points

The car has a split personality which is good and bad. When you drive the car from point A to B it can seem a bit boring, too quiet, and too smooth, until you hit the gas, corners, and breaks. Then you know what you have.

Lexus has had, and will have trouble converting BMW enthusiasts to this car, most of whom, don't have any respect for Lexus' performance - until you pull away from the mighty 540i (and run neck and neck with the 6-speed 540i Sport).

General Comments

I have owned two (2) Lexus GS 400/430's and have put nearly 60,000 miles on each car and driven them HARD. The only time I bring them in for service is for oil changes and new tires...

When this car was introduced in 1998 Motor Trend called the car "Velvet Lightning." Drive one and you will see why.

Hello! Hope all the stuff you wrote is correct, since i now have ordered a GS430 myself.
Since i always want to change things abit more personal, i have stated to seach for performance parts for this car. (Before its even in my garage!?) Have enyone any hints where to search? In first hand Im looking for intakekit and exhaust. What about the top speed limiter, can this be deactivated easily?

    Best regards, Björn Kjörsvik

A good car can always be better? I have spent money distroying what 50 engineers have worked their guts out for. First by lowering the car and also by changing exhaust to straight through type. Also I have added some body part from TTE, but there is much more to do. Hard to find kitts and performance parts unfortenaly. Do someone have tips, please contact me. Future plan is intakekitt, 18"rims. There is actually a NOS kitt for this car that will add 100hp, sounds good, but then the converter and rear diff probably has to be changed, butt Greddy has this so its only about money....
