Good Points

Very stylish, picture quality quite good (but nothing to wow over), easy to use. So far very reliable. Sound is very good.

Bad Points

Expensive, but then it is a Sony. When you view teletext, the format changes automatically to widescreen, and this continues in subtitles as well. Annoying. Fan noise is a definite minus. Inbuilt tuner is not necessary, as there will be no one with this TV and without satellite/freeview/VCR.

General Comments

You get a lot of appreciative glances and sounds from guests for this TV. The Sony KZ42TS1 is a very stylish piece of equipment. Gave no trouble at all to date (18 months). Inability to go directly to a particular AV channel is a definite minus, as you have to go through AV 1,2,3 and 4 before you reach AV5, for example. Sometimes bands persist for a few hours, especially after viewing text, but this is not a major issue. Picture quality with DVD is superb. The fan makes a good amount of noise, and when viewing at nighttimes, is very perceptible, and quite a distraction. I would definitely advise getting this TV to anyone, but I hope they make one without a fan in the coming models.
