Lost Prophets, Start Something Review: The Pontypridd metallers have returned with their second album release after the debut hybrid-Metal sound of The Fake Sound Of Progress, which spawned from lo-fi record label Visible Noise. With the 'prophets sound set to destroy from word go with the opening track We Still Kill The Old Way, Start Something is unlike its funky interluded predecessor which had DJ mixed links and heavy Nu-Metal riffs from start to finish. Along with the cleaner cut recordings on this record, we're presented with tracks such as Hello, Goodbye Tonight, and Sway all of which we thought went down as sounding incredibly corny, and a bearded man's poor attempt at putting his feelings across, a rock ballad! The 'prophets seemed to have cut the line on this one rather nicely with the aforementioned tracks all being something to move around to, without your mother. But if you thought that the band were going soft on you all of a sudden after the addictive head-banging Shinobi vs. Dragon Ninja, think again. As soon as the title track Start Something hits the ear drums, we're re-united with the undeniable head-banging sound of their previous instalment that we regretfully know, yet secretly love. Move on three tracks and we're introduced to a 3-minute mammoth of a badass moshness labelled We Are Godzilla, You Are Japan, an incredibly appropriate name to say the least, including the wonderful efforts of the DJs vocals via screaming among the heavy riffs of the welsh sextet.
In the past, it seemed as though Metal was going nowhere, but the Lost prophets have proved this theory wrong, by introducing not only that short 'n sweet meaningless head-banging tracks can go down a treat, but the rock ballads are back, and we're loving it! This here truly is the sound of progress.

If you're a Lostprophets fan, you'll already have Start Something gathering dust upon your collection. If you enjoyed the first album and nothing more, we suggest you borrow this. If you're after something totally new and different that fits under the Metal label, this is the album for you.
